Guide To Services & Fees

An educational or cognitive assessment conducted by myself is pretty comprehensive and usually conducted over two separate half day sessions of approximately 3 hours each.   Assessment typically includes both core and diagnostic assessment plus assessments of achievement in Maths and Literacy (spelling, word reading accuracy and, where appropriate, reading comprehension and speed of writing).  It will include a pre-assessment consultation (telephone/virtual), reading of (some) background reports, assessment by myself as described, a short summary report within a few days of assessment providing an overview of the assessment scores and brief explanation.  A comprehensive report detailing and explaining findings and offering suggestions moving forward will follow, together with links to useful websites and other resources.  A (telephone or virtual) consultation, once the report has been received, to provide you with the opportunity to ask any questions or discuss any issues raised by the report is included within the fee.  I can also conduct assessment at the child or young person's school, if this is preferred, providing the school can accommodate such a request (subject to any restrictions in place).  I prefer to encourage working cooperatively with schools and other professionals in the best interests of the child or young person.

I use the latest versions of assessment tests available in the UK including:

• The British Ability Scales 3rd edition (BAS3)
• The Wechsler Individual Achievement Test Third UK Edition, WIAT-III (although I sometimes  use elements of the WIAT-II where appropriate)
• York Assessment of Reading for Comprehension (YARC)
• Adaptive Behaviour Assessment Systems Third Edition (ABAS-3)
• Behaviour Rating Inventory of Executive Function, Second Edition (BRIEF2)
• BECK Youth Inventories, Second Edition (BECK YI)

Where additional services to the standard assessment are required, such as observations at school and consulting with teaching staff or other professionals, an additional fee is charged.  Observation in class and meeting with key staff can often be completed within an hour and a half.  More complex requests are negotiated individually with the client depending upon the level of complexity and the amount of work that will be involved.  

Where travel is required to conduct observation or assessment there is a fee for the additional time and costs incurred.  Travel time is charged at a different (reduced) rate.

Please note that standard reports, although comprehensive, are not designed to be used for legal purposes.  The fee for medico-legal and expert witness work is negotiated individually  depending on the demands of the case.

As this company is not VAT registered VAT is not charged on top of my fees.

I do not work for agencies. This means you  book with me direct and do not pay agency fees.
